NEWS: Danbury Named One of America’s 50 Best Cities to Live
Danbury is a standout city, and the 24/7 Wall Street has confirmed it.
Danbury was ranked the best city to live in Connecticut and 34th of the best cities in America by the financial news website, that created an index of three-dozen socio-economic measures. The results of the analysis were published on October 12th.
“Danbury boasts a higher concentration of restaurants, sports teams, and theatre companies than is typical nationwide. For physically active residents, the city also has a relatively high concentration of recreation centers, golf courses, and nature parks,” 24/7 Wall St. reports. “Located in Fairfield County, Connecticut, Danbury is one of the most expensive places in the United States. Goods and services cost an average of 30.8% more than in the area than they do nationwide. Though the median income in Danbury is nearly $13,000 higher than it is nationwide, bigger paychecks are not enough to offset the area’s high cost of living.”
Commenting on the analysis, the News-Times writes “Danbury is consistently one of the safest cities in Connecticut and boasts the state’s lowest unemployment rate. It has been ranked one of the most diverse cities in the United States and one of the best cities to do business in Connecticut.
Danbury also has a stronger middle class than any other big city in Connecticut, according data from the U.S. Census Bureau. The city has held onto its middle class more than surrounding communities in Fairfield County, where income equality has become pronounced. [It is] an island of middle-class strength in a county increasingly identified with the 1 percent.”
